Region’s airlines flew 507.5% more international passengers in 2022 over 2021

Asia-Pacific carriers transported 105.4 million international passengers in calendar 2022, a 507% improvement from 17.4 million passengers transported a year earlier, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. Read More » The 2022 figure was 28.1% of the 375.5 million passengers flown in 2019, the last full year before the COVID-19 global outbreak. “The outlook for 2023 is broadly positive, notably for passenger travel,” AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said. “The recovery of passenger demand is expected to progress in coming months driven by a strong appetite for travel.”
