AirAsia India fined for pilot training lapses

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has fined AirAsia India, recently renamed AIX Connect, 4.4 million rupee (US$53,000) and ordered its head of training be stood down for three months after the regulator found the LCC had not followed standard procedures for pilot proficiency checks and instrument rating tests. The LCC has acknowledged the DGCA issued a finding related to pilot training exercises following an inspection by the regulator in November 2020. It said it took immediate corrective action. Tata Sons owns 100% of AIX Connect after it acquired the remaining 16.33% equity in the carrier held by Malaysia’s AirAsia Aviation Group last November.
