Air New Zealand to resume flying from Auckland after Cyclone Gabrielle

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) is working at top speed to rebook passengers disrupted by Cyclone Gabrielle, which passed over the North Island of New Zealand on the weekend. Read More » The Star Alliance member said, based on weather forecasts, it will resume flights from Auckland Airport today. Jet aircraft operations started mid-morning and turboprop services from mid-afternoon. Air NZ chief customer and sales officer, Leanne Geraghty, said 10,000 of its international passengers were impacted by the cyclone. At February 13, 6,500 customers needed to be rebooked on flights. “As we did during the Auckland flooding, we are adding larger aircraft to routes, working with our star alliance partners, converting cargo flights to passenger flights and operating additional services, where possible, to the ports where we need them the most,” Geraghty said.
