Europe’s competition regulator digging deeper into Korean Air’s intended Asiana Airlines merger

Read More » “With our in-depth investigation, we will ensure the acquisition of Asiana by Korean Air does not impede competition and will not lead to higher prices, less capacity or lower quality for passengers and cargo air transport services,” EC executive vice president for competition policy, Margrethe Vestager, said. In response to the EC announcement, KAL said it will work with the commission's review of the proposed transaction, which still requires the approval of several jurisdictions to proceed. “Korean Air is confident our merger will benefit our customers in the market. Korean Air will continue to communicate with the EC and submit remedies to address its concerns,” KAL said.
