Hong Kong Airport reports 29% passenger increase in January

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) said Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) processed 2.1 million passengers in January, up from the 1.6 million travellers who passed through the airport in December and a huge increase over the 71,000 customers processed at its two terminals in January 2022. Read More » “Traffic to and from Southeast Asia and Japan recorded the most significant increases,” AAHK said. “Also, the re-opening of the Mainland market to international travel drove a recovery in passenger traffic between Hong Kong and Mainland China,” the airport operator said. Compared with pre-COVID-19, the January 2023 results were 31.9% of the 6.5 million passengers transacted through HKIA in January 2019.
