India’s airlines flew 12.5 million domestic passengers in January

Airlines operating domestic India services carried 12.5 million passengers last month, down 1.5% from the 12.7 million domestic travellers recorded in December. Read More » Despite the decline, the January figures were close to double the 6.4 million domestic passengers flown in the same month in 2022. They also were broadly in line with the 12.5 million domestic air travellers transported in pre-COVID January 2019, figures from India's Directorate General for Civil Aviation (DGCA) show. Once again, LCC IndiGo was India's leading domestic carrier for the month, with 6.8 million passengers transported, or 54.6% of the domestic market, followed by Air India with 1.2 million passengers (9.2% market share) and Vistara’s 1.1 million customers (8.8% market share).
