Airlines operating in Australia flew 4.6 million passengers on their domestic networks in December, up 79% from 2.6 million in-country passengers flown in the same month in 2021. Read More » Despite the strong performance, the December results were 2.4% lower than the 4.7 million domestic passengers airlines carried last November and 13.3% below the 5.3 million domestic air travellers they transported in pre-COVID-19 December 2019. “The domestic aviation industry continued to recover in December 2022,” Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) said.
