IATA issues early designation code to under construction western Sydney airport

Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport has been allocated airport designation WSI by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), more than three years before the airport’s planned start of operations, in late 2026, and much earlier than the airline lobby group's usual practice of designating a new airport’s code about 12 months before flights commence.
