Global airline association reports 67% year-on-year growth in revenue passenger kilometres

Air travel revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) increased by 67% in January against the matching 31 days in 2022, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), said overnight. Read More » Compared with pre-pandemic levels, January 2023 RPKs were 97.4% of the same month in 2019. “With strong travel demand continuing through the traditionally slower northern hemisphere Winter season, the stage is set for an even busier Spring and Summer,” IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said. “The rapid removal of COVID-19 restrictions for Chinese domestic and international travel bodes well for a continued strong recovery from the pandemic.”
