EVA Air discloses purchase of five 787-9s

EVA Air’s board of directors has authorised the acquisition of five 787-9s. Read More » The Taiwan-headquartered airline said in a filing to its regulator the aircraft were purchased for the “operating needs” of the company. Delivery dates were not disclosed. EVA received its first 787-9, on lease from Air Lease Corporation, in October 2018. Boeing’s website shows the airline has unfilled orders for four 787-9s and seven 787-10s. The Star Alliance member said net profit rose 7.3%, to TW$7.1 billion (US$232 million), in the 12 months to December 31 from TW$6.6 billion in the previous year.
