Coalition of pilot unions rejects single pilot operations for commercial aircraft

Read More » The coalition of pilot groups described the plans of airlines and manufacturers to develop single pilot operations as a profit-driven scheme that posed a significant safety risk. “Despite developments in automation and improved technologies on the flight deck, two pilots at the controls remains the most important safety feature of an aircraft,” the associations collectively argued. “Technology, no matter how sophisticated, is not a replacement for pilots on the flight deck.”
