China Airlines exercises options for eight 787-9s; pursuing “aggressive” fleet renewal plan

Taiwan’s China Airlines (CAL) has announced it will convert options on eight 787-9s to purchase commitments with deliveries from 2026. Read More » The aircraft will operate across CAL’s regional and Oceania networks as well as long-haul routes.
In August 2022 CAL announced an order for 16 787-9s, powered by GEnx engines, with options to convert the commitment to 787-10s. The airline is “in the midst of an aggressive fleet revitalization program aimed at improving operational efficiency and traveller service”, a CAL statement said.
