Thai Airways International to fully integrate Thai Smile into its operations

Thai Airways International (THAI) has announced its creditors committee has approved the return of its regional carrier, Thai Smile, to the parent airline. Read More » The two airlines will operate under a single air operator certificate (AOC), increase revenue and improve cost management efficiency by removing duplication of operations, flight planning and scheduling functions, THAI said. “Operating under a single AOC increases our ability to determine routes that are more responsive to customer needs and offer more convenient connecting flights,” THAI CEO, Chai Eamsiri, said in a regulatory filing. The merger will make available more routes and give the flag carrier the flexibility to switch between narrow body aircraft, previously operated by Thai Smile, and wide-bodies flown by THAI, dictated by air traffic demand, the flag carrier said.
