U.S. regulator mandates secondary barrier for flight deck

Read More » The final rule mandating the secondary barrier, to protect the flight deck from intrusion when the flight deck door is open, was signed by the FAA acting administrator, Polly Trottenberg, on June 14. “Every day, pilots and flight crews transport millions of Americans safely. Today, we are taking another important step to make sure they have the physical protection they deserve,” U.S. Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg, said. Aircraft manufacturers must install the secondary barriers on commercial aircraft manufactured from the date the rule takes effect.
