China Southern stakes out claim at new Beijing Airport

Guangzhou-headquartered China Southern Airlines will become one of the main carriers based at the new Beijing International Airport expected to open in late 2018 in Daxing, south of the capital. Indonesia acts on air traffic congestion as LCCs continue to expand

Indonesia’s transportation ministry is set to issue a regulation on delay management standards that will apply to all airlines operating in the archipelago, the Jakarta Globe has reported. "Transportation minister, Ignasius Jonan, has signed the regulation and it is awaiting promulgation by the Law and Human Rights Ministry," Suprasetyo, director-general of air transportation at the ministry, said on Tuesday. Branson to “fly his airline to Thailand soon”

Virgin Group is looking to invest in the airline business in Thailand, the Bangkok Post has reported, citing founder Sir Richard Branson on a visit to the Thai capital on Monday. State-owned SriLankan Airlines has curbed its losses on the back of lower fuel prices and is trying to consolidate its position without expanding into new routes, the carrier’s chairman, Ajith Dias, said last week, adding a turnaround plan has been approved by cabinet, which may be made public soon. Starting October 25, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will place its ‘KL’ code on four additional ex-Suvarnabhumi Bangkok Airways services, including Krabi, Luang Prabang, Mandalay and Siem Reap. Qantas Airways and WestJet have expanded their partnership, which saw the Australian carrier add its ‘QF’ designator to 19 additional Canadian domestic services (five ex-Calgary, six ex-Edmonton, three ex-Toronto and five ex-Vancouver).
