Overview

It has been another “China week” in Asia-Pacific aviation as the Mainland’s anti-graft watchdog clamped down on corrupt CAAC, AVIC, COMAC, as well as Air China and China Eastern Airlines officials. Meanwhile, there has been a persistent rumour about Air China and China Southern Airlines discussing a potential merger. In the interim, HNA Group continued its global shopping spree for equity and influence after signing a $2.4 billion deal with Rolls-Royce as news transpired it was close to buying a majority stake in Manchester Airport.
