A trusted source of Asia-Pacific commercial aviation news and analysis

MARCH 2016

Week 12

Overview

It has been a terrifying week in global aviation as terrorists attacked Brussels Airport, killing many and injuring hundreds. But it wasn’t all grim news. Airbus unveiled a new cabin innovation drive in London and Bombardier’s CS100 successfully completed its 30 city-pair European route-proving program. In the Asia-Pacific, new Chinese aircraft orders appear to be just around the corner and Wuhan Airport is set to open its new runway in June. And in Indonesia, support is mounting for the state to have a seat on the International Civil Aviation Organisation Executive Council while Malaysia Airlines believes the worst is over.

On a more serious note, the International Air Transport Association announced on Thursday that it had become “a complainant in an investigation by the European Commission into alleged abuses of dominant positions by manufacturers of aviation equipment”.
