Overview
This week in Asia-Pacific aviation was dominated by news from the Farnborough Air Show taking place until Sunday outside London. At press time, Boeing and Airbus had achieved more than $65 billion in confirmed orders for passenger aircraft, mainly from Asia-Pacific carriers. Airbus led the order race, announcing deals for 279 planes compared with Boeing’s 197, although the latter won more endorsements from Chinese airlines. On the side lines of the air show, Qatar Airways agreed to buy 10% of South America’s LATAM. And in the region, Vietnam Airlines announced a leadership change.
