  • The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) plans to establish a temporary “green channel” for airlines – both local and foreign – to fast track approvals to operate international passenger charter flights.   • Hainan Airlines Holdings said in a regulatory filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange today it had cancelled a 4.5 billion yuan (US$635 million) sale of five 737-800s, two 787-8s and two A350-900s to Hong Kong-based HNA Aviation. The statement said the sale cancellation was due to a change in the buyer's operating strategy in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Read More »

  • Hong Kong Special Administrative Region chief executive, Carrie Lam, announced today travellers would again be permitted to transit through Hong Kong International Airport from June 1. Lam told reporters Hong Kong, which has been closed to transit passengers since March 25 as part of efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, would resume transit passenger services “in moderation”.   • Japanese LCC, Peach Aviation, said it expected all of its 22 domestic routes to be back in operation by June 19. The All Nippon Airways (ANA) subsidiary said late last week that of the 13 domestic routes currently suspended, one would return on June 1, with the remaining 12 to restart on June 19.
