Two airlines in the region this week pledged their support for the COVID-19 vaccination programs of their governments by launching giveaways of free flights, frequent flyer points and other "goodies" for those who have received the jab.
The Qantas Group’s headline prize was free flights for a year anywhere on its network.
A few days later, Cathay Pacific offered a private flight around Hong Kong on an A321neo through a lucky draw. The headline of its media release said it all: "Get vaccinated!"
Beyond the region, United Airlines unveiled its "Your shot to fly" sweepstakes with vaccinated travellers eligible to win a return flight for two to any destination in the U.S. carrier’s network. Read More »

Cathay Pacific CEO, Augustus Tang, said 80% of the airline group's pilots and 50% of its cabin crew either have booked or received their COVID-19 vaccinations as the Hong Kong-based carrier launched a giveaway lucky draw to encourage more locals to get the jab. Read More »

THAI to commence five international routes from Phuket in July
Thai Airways International (THAI) said it would resume nonstop flights between Phuket and five European cities from the start of July – Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London, Paris and Zurich. Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways also have announced they will return to Phuket from their hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, respectively. Read More »
