Air New Zealand (Air NZ) will add 2,000 seats between Australia and New Zealand in early 2024 to cater for Kiwis headed to Melbourne and Sydney for the Taylor Swift concerts. Read More » The U.S. artist's concerts have attracted huge interest on both sides of the Tasman with more than half a million tickets sold within hours of going on sale this week. The Star Alliance member has scheduled new return flights from Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington to Melbourne and Sydney, including some aircraft with a special NZ1989 flight number in honour of the pop star's fifth studio album. “When tour dates for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour were released last week, we saw a surge in demand for the final day of our Tasman sale with more than 3,500 Kiwis booking flights to coincide with concert dates,” Air NZ chief customer and sales officer, Leanne Geraghty, said. “To get more Swifties to Australia, we have added more than 2,000 seats around the concert dates so fans can travel to the show in ‘Style’ with Air New Zealand. Fans hoping to secure their flights will have to act fast, we expect the additional capacity will sell out swiftly.”
