Virgin Australia welcomes first 737 MAX 8, announces US$73 million fleet refurbishment

The Australian carrier revealed its first 737 MAX 8, registration VH-8IA “Monkey Mia”, to employees, their families and invited media at the company’s Brisbane headquarters over the weekend. “It is wonderful to be here celebrating the arrival of our new fuel-efficient aircraft with the wider Virgin Australia family,” VA CEO, Jayne Hrdlicka, said. “Today is an important milestone for Virgin Australia as we grow and renew our fleet and continue investing in our on board guest experience.” Seven more 737 MAX 8s will join VA’s fleet, starting from late next year.
