Hong Kong’s airport maintains 24 hour operations during typhoon

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) said Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) remained “largely normal” after Typhoon Talim closed down Hong Kong’s business, retail, education and most ferry, tram and bus services on July 17. Read More » The airport said 22 flights were cancelled and five others were diverted to other airports by 1500 local time yesterday. HKIA's two runways were in operation overnight. “The airport emergency centre has been activated since the early hours of this morning to coordinate operations,” AAHK said on July 17. “Additional manpower has been deployed to assist passengers at the terminal. AAHK will maintain close communications with the Civil Aviation Department, airlines, public transport operators and other business partners to ensure smooth airport and flights operations.”
