The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) latest Airport Monitoring Report for the 2021-2022 financial performance of Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney airports, said it was “well below” non-COVID-19 2018-2019. “While there was a rebound in passenger numbers in the latter part of 2021-2022, as domestic and international borders reopened, all four airports reported financial year operating losses from aeronautical services,” ACCC commissioner, Anna Brakey, said. “The airports were still profitable overall as their non-aeronautical operations, including parking and leasing, more than offset aeronautical services losses.”

SIA Engineering Company has finalised its acquisition of 49% of Malaysia-based ground handling provider, Pos Aviation Engineering Services (PAES). The US$877 million deal was announced in February. Pos Aviation Sdn Bhd holds the remaining 51% equity in PAES.
