Singapore regulator investigating Air China incident aboard flight from Chengdu

Read More » The aircraft arrived at Changi Airport on September 10 with reports of smoke in the cabin and the forward cargo hold. The pilots declared an emergency and requested a priority landing. “After landing, emergency slides of the aircraft were deployed for expeditious evacuation,” CAAS said. “The Airport Emergency Services (AES) responded immediately and put out a fire in the left engine of the aircraft.” Of the 146 passengers and crew on board, nine sustained minor injuries, including smoke inhalation and abrasions during the evacuation process, CAAS said. “The Transport Safety Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident and has contacted its Chinese counterpart who will assist the investigation,” CAAS said.
