Malaysia Airlines and country’s airports to operate electric ground handling units

Kuala Lumpur International Airport will follow suit in coming months. The energy replacement program was announced at the recent Selangor Aviation Show 2023. “This initiative will not just impact the environment but provide an opportunity for better cost management and process improvement,” MAG group chief sustainability officer, Philip See Yew Jin, said. “In fact, the eGPU reduces 50,000kgs of CO₂ emissions with less than 65db(A) noise emissions compared with diesel GPUs.” MAHB managing director, Dato’ Sri Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, said: “Subang Airport, the Business Aviation and the Aerospace Ecosystem as part of the Subang Airport Regeneration Program, will encompass environmentally friendly initiatives. As such, the eGSE infrastructure announced today aligns perfectly with our sustainability vision for this project and our commitment to sustainable development as we contribute to the nation’s aerospace ecosystem.”
