Air New Zealand (Air NZ) expects its route network to Australia, the Pacific Islands and some domestic services to be impacted from the start of 2024 as a result of Pratt & Whitney engine issues on the airline’s 16 A320neo and A321neo family fleet. Read More » On September 12, Pratt & Whitney announced 600 to 700 PW1100G-JM Geared Turbofan (GTF) engines will require a new maintenance plan to correct a rare condition in the powder metal used to manufacture certain parts of the GTF engine. “Air New Zealand will work with Pratt & Whitney to implement the new maintenance plan and assess its effect on the airline’s future schedule,” the flag carrier said in a regulatory filing. “There is no immediate impact on Air New Zealand flights, but it is likely the airline will need to adjust its schedule in coming months, some of which may be significant.”
