Cathay Pacific records strong demand for air travel in August, particularly on short-haul routes

Read More » The oneworld alliance member reported 1.8 million passengers in August, up 603% from the 253,907 customers it carried in the same month last year. Capacity, or Available Seat Kilometres (ASK), was 244.9% higher year-on-year, the airline group said in its latest update. “The outlook for the rest of 2023 looks promising,” Lau said. “We continue to add flights for our customers, in particular to and from China where we are operating about 170 return flights a week to 16 airports in 15 [Mainland] cities.” Compared with pre-COVID August 2019, Cathay's passenger numbers for the 31 days were 61.4% of the 2.9 million customers it flew four years ago. The airline said ASKs were 56% of the same month in 2019.
