Global air cargo demand returns to growth in August

Read More » It was the first year-on-year increase in the air cargo sector since February 2022, IATA said in its monthly cargo report. “This is the first year-on-year growth in 19 months, so it is certainly welcome news,” IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said. “But it is off a low 2022 base and market signals are mixed.” The closely watched Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) improved only slightly in August and continued to show contracting manufacturing production, IATA noted. “This is particularly significant as we head into air cargo’s traditional peak year-end season,” Walsh said. CTKs at Asia-Pacific airlines rose 4.9% year-on-year in August, IATA said.
