Japan Airlines (JAL) and Regent Craft Inc. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch sea glider operations in Japan. Read More » The partners are aiming to conduct a demonstration flight in 2025 followed by certification for the operation of Regent Craft's all-electric sea gliders. “With Japan being an island nation, sea gliders offer great potential for our country to connect people and transport goods throughout the nation in a sustainable manner,” JAL senior vice president for digital innovation, Yasushi Noda, said. “By joining forces with Regent and utilising their compelling technology, we look forward to bringing this revolutionary vehicle to the global market in the near future.” Regent Craft CEO, Billy Thalheimer, said: “Japan is an exemplary market for sea glider travel and logistics. Partnering with JAL will accelerate the adoption of sea gliders across the country and in the broader Asia-Pacific.”
