Korean Air maintenance arm starts MRO on Pratt & Whitney’s geared turbofan engines

Korean Air (KAL) has received its first batch of Pratt & Whitney (P&W) geared turbofan (GTF) engines at its MRO shop in Gyeonggi province’s Bucheon, located about 25km west of Seoul. Read More » A ceremony to mark the occasion was held last week. KAL is scheduled to maintain about 100 GTF engines a year. The airline group joined P&W’s global network of GTF MRO providers in 2021. It offers complete disassembly, assembly, maintenance and testing capabilities for the engine type. KAL vice president and chief safety operations officer, Yoo Jong-seok, said the company is ready to support both domestic and international customers.
