China Airlines passengers increase 459.9% in September

Taiwan-headquartered China Airlines (CAL) flew 800,189 passengers last month, up from 142,922 air travellers a year ago. Read More » However, the SkyTeam alliance member experienced a 12.1% month-on-month decline in customers carried against the 910,040 passengers it transported in August. CAL generated TW$7.9 billion (US$245 million) in passenger revenue for the 30 days, up 295.1% from the TW$2 billion it recorded a year earlier. Passenger revenue declined 14.1%, from TW$9.2 billion in the previous month. Compared with pre-pandemic air traffic, the flag carrier’s September passenger total was 67.5% of the 1.2 million customers it flew in the same month in 2019. Passenger revenue was 112.9% of the TW$7 billion CAL earned four years ago. Capacity was 85.2% of September 2019 operations.
