Japan Airlines increasing fuel surcharges on international routes

Japan Airlines (JAL) has applied to the country's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) to lift fuel surcharges for international passenger tickets sold in Japan. Read More » The higher surcharges will apply to tickets purchased from December 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. The oneworld alliance member's new surcharges will start at 5,900 yen (US$39) for Japan to Korea and Far East Russia, up 68.6% from 3,500 yen at present. The biggest increase will be on Europe, the Middle East, North America and Oceania routes at 47,000 yen, a 40.7% jump from 33,400 yen previously. “JAL sets fuel surcharges bi-monthly based on the two-month average price of Singapore kerosene jet fuel,” the airline said.
