Cathay Pacific’s passengers up 480% year-on-year reports traffic update

Capacity, measured by available seat kilometres (ASK), was 260% higher year-on-year and passenger load factor increased by 11.2 percentage points to 83.7%. “Looking ahead, we will continue to increase capacity as much as is feasible to provide more choice and flexibility for our customers,” Lau said in a regulatory filing. “Earlier this month, we resumed our Chicago passenger service, which received a very encouraging response from our customers. With the next holiday period not until Christmas, we will remain agile to capture demand, including connecting traffic via the Hong Kong hub.” Passengers in September were 63.5% of the 2.4 million air travellers the airline group flew in pre-COVID September 2019. ASKs were 58.2% of the capacity the airline operated four years ago.
