Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) from China, Indonesia, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the United States, as well as the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) on the Asia-Pacific Trajectory-Based Operation (TBO) Pathfinder Project, to jointly define, develop and demonstrate TBO for the Asia-Pacific within four years.
Separately ANSPs from Indonesia, New Zealand, and Singapore, alongside CANSO and IATA signed an Letter of Intent (LoI) on the South-East Asia – Oceania Implementation of Free Route Operations (FRTO) Project, to identify applicable city pairs and flights, and validate the use of FRTO between defined cities within a year.
The LoIs were signed on the sidelines of the ICAO Air Navigation World – ATM Procedures for Today conference in Singapore.
Travel technology provider, SITA, said Azul will trial its weather application SITA eWAS and the flight climb calculator SITA OptiClimb. The Brazil-headquartered airline operates weather application SITA Mission Watch that is used by dispatchers.
