Changi Airport passenger numbers reached 89% of pre-COVID-19 levels last month, a result of increasing traffic to and from China and growth in other key markets. Read More » Compared with a year ago, Changi Airport Group recorded 4.9 million passengers for the 30 days, up 42.4% from 3.4 million passengers who travelled through the airport in the same month in 2022 and within 600,000 of the 5.5 million passengers registered through Changi’s terminals in September 2019. “Passenger traffic at Changi Airport continues to recover steadily across key markets,” Changi Airport Group executive vice president for air hub and cargo development, Lim Ching Kiat, said. In particular, traffic to and from China recorded a surge in August, with half a million Mainland travellers processed through the airport in the month, more than seven times the passenger traffic between the two countries in January 2023 when China's border reopened, he said. “As we move towards 2024, we will continue to work with airlines to reinstate more city links and build capacity on existing routes to strengthen Changi Airport’s connectivity to the rest of the world,” Lim said.
