All Nippon Airways announces US$620 million interim profit

ANA HOLDINGS INC., the parent company of All Nippon Airways (ANA), has reported a net profit of 93.2 billion yen (US$620 million) for the six months to September 30, close to five times the net profit of 19.5 billion yen it recorded in the same months in 2022. Read More » Operating revenue was higher by 26.8%, at 1 trillion yen, ANA HOLDINGS said in a regulatory filing. The company has maintained its forecast of a full-year net profit of 80 billion yen. ANA HOLDINGS added it expects an 8 billion yen hit to revenue from inspections on its Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan engines. Up to 30 flights a day will be cancelled between January 10 and March 30 next year to complete the engine MRO requirements, it said. Additionally, higher oil prices and increased costs for securing resources will have a 40 billion yen impact on the group’s bottom line for the full year, it said. When announcing a payout of 30 yen per share, the group said: “Due to the focus on fiscal management and operational delivery and with the continued support of our customers and various stakeholders, I am pleased to announce we plan to reinstate dividend payments to our shareholders for the first time in five years,” ANA HOLDINGS INC. group chief financial officer, Kimihiro Nakahori, said. “ANA Group's positive performance reinforces our strategy to position the company for sustainable growth. The results of the first half of the fiscal year reflect the contributions of our employees to achieve our goals.”
