MYAirline Air Service Licence formally suspended
November 3rd 2023
The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) has suspended the Air Service Licence (ASL) of MYAirline after reviewing the grounded carrier's response to its show cause notice. Read More » The decision was delivered to the airline after MAVCOM found its representations in response to the show cause notice were “not satisfactory”. MYAirline is liable to refund affected passengers for tickets bought, Malaysia's consumer protection laws dictate, despite suspension of its ASL. About 117,000 passengers are impacted by the carrier’s suspension of operations on October 12, with total forward sales of about 22 million ringgit (US$4.6 million) on its books at the time of the airline’s grounding. “This decision is in line with MAVCOM’s functions that include, among others, providing a mechanism for aviation passenger protection and promoting timely investments in the civil aviation industry to meet Malaysia’s evolving demand and development needs,” MAVCOM executive chairman, YBhg. Datuk Seri Hj. Saripuddin, said. “Hence, MAVCOM’s role requires a balancing act for commercial activity to promote the sustainability and progress of the industry, while ensuring passengers are protected.”
