Boeing said airlines in South East Asia were expected to require 4,225 new commercial aircraft over the next 20 years to meet the growing demand for air travel. Read More » The figure is down 0.7%, or 30 aircraft, from the 4,255 aircraft Boeing forecast for the South East Asia region in its 2022-2041 Commercial Market Outlook issued last year. Boeing reduced the expected number of regional jet deliveries from 50 to 45 aircraft, the number of single aisle aircraft from 3,430 to 3,390 and cut its estimate of new freighter deliveries from 35 to 20 aircraft. By contrast, forecast for widebody aircraft was increased from 740 to 770 aircraft. "As the South East Asia market reopens, air traffic will grow substantially," Boeing commercial marketing managing director for Asia-Pacific, Dave Schulte, said. "Expanded connectivity, tourism and low fares will continue to stoke new and increased travel, especially among a growing middle class across the region. The role of LCCs will continue to rise to fill that demand for air travel." Boeing said 83% of new deliveries were for growth, while 17% were to replace aircraft being retired.
