Asia-Pacific airlines flew 25.3 million international passengers in October

Airlines in the Asia-Pacific transported 25.3 million passengers on international flights in October, more than double the 12.5 million international travellers they carried in the same month in 2022. Read More » International capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was 77.9% higher year-on-year for the 31 days, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. “Asia-Pacific carriers continued to enjoy robust growth in business and leisure travel markets going into the fourth quarter, reflecting healthy travel appetite supported by resilient growth of the region’s economies,” AAPA director-general, Subhas Menon, said. "Prospects for further growth in air travel demand remain positive in the coming months." The latest passenger numbers represent 80.9% of the 31.3 million international passengers carried by the region’s airlines in October 2019. International ASKs were at 79% of the capacity Asia-Pacific airlines offered in the same month four years ago. Menon noted international air cargo demand in the Asia-Pacific improved for a second month in a row in October.
