Kansai cuts ribbon on international terminal upgrade

Read More » From this week, passengers can proceed through passport control more smoothly as the new area operates centralised immigration clearance, KIX said. Until now, passengers proceeding to security and their gates have had to clear immigration at the north or south areas of the terminal. The new international departures area also has duty-free shops, a central plaza, food and beverage outlets and four “Mood” areas – active, curious, fun and peaceful. The upgraded facility is part of the airport's multi-year renovation program. The domestic terminal was upgraded in 2022 and is scheduled for more improvements to be completed by 2026. “Kansai Airports Group will keep collaborating with stakeholders to strengthen the functions of the airport as a gateway to Kansai for domestic and international passengers,” an airport statement said.
