Cathay Group airlines recorded 20 million passengers in 2023

In full-year 2023, the Cathay Group’s airlines, Cathay Pacific and HK Express, carried more than 20 million passengers compared with the 3 million passengers they transported in the previous 12 months. Read More » Against 2022, passengers flown by the two airlines increased 541.5%. Available Seat Kilometres were higher by 326.8% and Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPK) improved by 396.8%. In peak season December, Cathay Pacific transported 1,779,457 passengers, 122.1% more than a year earlier and RPKs increased 89.3% year-on-year. Passenger load factor decreased by 2 percentage points to 81.2%, but ASKs increased by 94%. “As a group, we made significant progress in our rebuild journey in 2023. We remain committed to working towards fully rebuilding our flights, with the aim of delivering the high quality and reliable services Hong Kong deserves.” chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, said. In 2023, Cathay Pacific recorded a 19.6% increase in cargo tonnage. “In total, we carried almost 1.4 million tonnes of air freight in 2023 compared with about 1.2 million tonnes in 2022, an encouraging result,” Lau said.
