Singapore Changi’s passenger traffic recovers to 86% of pre-pandemic 2019

Singapore Changi Airport handled 58.9 million commercial aircraft movements in 2023, 86% of the traffic recorded in 2019. Read More » The airport reported a strong 2023 fourth quarter when traffic reached 90% of full recovery – or 16.1 million passenger movements. Aircraft landings and take-offs were 328,000 compared with 382,000 in 2019. North America posted the strongest growth last year, exceeding 2019 levels by more than 25%. Europe, Southwest Pacific and South Asia are close to full recovery, registering more than 90% of 2019 traffic. Northeast Asia recorded the biggest recovery rate with passenger traffic increasing more than four times against 2022, largely due to a significant increase in travel between China and Singapore. Southeast Asia posted the second strongest recovery numbers for the 12 months, registering 72% year-on-year growth. “Changi Airport restored almost 90% of our pre-pandemic city links and is now the fifth busiest airport in the world by seat capacity. We step into 2024 hopeful of making a full recovery to pre-COVID connectivity and traffic levels,” Changi Airport Group executive vice president for air hub and cargo development, Lim Ching Kiat, said.
