AirAsia Group airlines report passenger numbers at 77% of pre-COVID 2019

Capital A's AirAsia Group carriers in Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand flew a combined 57 million passengers in calendar 2023, up 67% from the 34.2 million customers it transported in the previous year. Read More » The results were 77% of pre-COVID-19 levels, Capital A said. Capacity, or Available Seat Kilometres, was 74% of pre-pandemic times with the four airlines recording average passenger load factors in the high 80%. “This achievement signifies the return of strong travel demand aligned with the group’s relentless efforts to return capacity to the market and reinstate the route network,” Capital A said. “As more capacity is made available, operations will continue to stabilise and customer experience will improve.”
