January 31st 2024
EVA Airways and the Taoyuan Union of Pilots (TUP) have agreed a new workplace contract. Read More » Previously, the TUP had threatened industrial action during next month's Lunar New Year holiday if it did not secure better working and salary conditions for members. The prospect of industrial action was withdrawn after EVA Air management confirmed increases in cockpit crew salaries and allowances and pledged to stop hiring foreign pilots as direct entry captains without a review from the government on a case-by-case basis, local media reports. “EVA Air maintained an open attitude and continued to propose feasible solutions to negotiate with the Taoyuan Union of Pilots,” the airline said. “Both parties have reached a consensus to create a win-win situation that protects the rights and interests of passengers and achieves labour harmony. We look forward to working in a harmonious atmosphere to continue to provide the safest and highest service quality to passengers,” the airline said.
