Skymark net profit soars 91% in final nine months of 2023

Japan’s Skymark Airlines has reported a net profit of 3.6 billion yen (US$25 million) for the nine months to last December 31, against a 1.9 billion yen net profit in the same months in 2022. The company reaffirmed its recent earnings guidance of a fiscal year net profit of 5.8 billion yen, versus 5.7 billion yen previously, and estimated operating revenue of 102.3 billion yen compared with 84.7 billion yen previously. Skymark's financial year ends on March 31. “In the environment surrounding the domestic airline industry in which the company operates, passenger demand continues its recovery and has been robust,” Skymark said. “Strong passenger demand is expected to continue because of a shift to domestic travel and an increase in foreign tourists due to the weak yen. Furthermore, new events are scheduled one after another in various areas of Japan.”
