Competition regulator reports Australia's domestic air passenger market “stabilising”

Read More » Average revenue per passenger, adjusted for inflation, was 13% lower in December 2023 compared with the same month in 2022 and 1.4% below pre-pandemic numbers. But the best discount economy fares were still higher than COVID-19 prices, the ACCC said. As well, cancellation rates and delays remained higher than long-term industry averages, it said. “The persistently high rates of cancellations and delays, compared with long-term averages, in the second half of last year were clearly disappointing for consumers,” ACCC chair, Gina Cass-Gottlieb, said.
