Akasa Air selects Mumbai-Doha as inaugural international route

India’s Akasa Air has decided Doha will be its first international route, launching a four times a week rotation between the cities on March 28. Read More » The privately held airline, which began commercial operations in August 2022, said the “introduction of four flights a week connecting Doha directly with Mumbai, a key Indian commercial hub, will cater to a diverse set of travellers and will facilitate tourism, commerce and strengthen bilateral ties,” Akasa Air CEO, Vinay Dube, said. “We are proud of our remarkable growth since inception, which is a testimony to the sheer potential of the Indian aviation industry. Our foray into Qatar marks the next phase of our growth as we continue our journey to becoming one of the world’s top 30 airlines by the turn of this decade.” At present, Air India, IndiGo, Qatar Airways and Vistara serve Mumbai-Doha.
