Australasia’s leading carriers forecast delivery delays of ordered aircraft

Qantas Airways and Air New Zealand have said some routes and a cabin upgrade will be held back by up to a year because of OEM production delays. Read More » Earlier this week, Qantas said the first of its ordered A350-1000ULRs will arrive at the carrier in mid-2026 instead of year-end 2025. The delay will push back the inauguration of “Project Sunrise”, planned ultra-long-haul non-stop flights from Sydney to London and New York. Air New Zealand has had to postpone its unveiling of bunk beds in economy class due to delayed delivery of its ordered 787s. Initially, the new product was to be available in September this year for flights from Auckland to New York and Chicago, but the first of the ordered 787s will not arrive at the carrier until the middle of 2025.
