Cathay Group passengers flown crossed the two million mark in January

Cathay Group carriers, Cathay Pacific and HK Express, transported an average of 70,000 passengers a day last month. Read More » Cathay Pacific flew 1.7 million passengers in the 31 days, an increase of 66.4% against January 2023. Revenue Passenger Kilometers for the month increased 56.7% year-on-year, but passenger load factor decreased by 4 percentage points to 82.8%. Capacity, or Available Seat Kilometres, increased 64.2% over January last year. Hong Kong-Philippines was best performing route for the month with a near 90% load factor. Cathay Group said: “On the travel side, we have seen solid demand during the Lunar New Year travel peak with outbound travel from Hong Kong focused between February 7 to February 12. Inbound travel was most concentrated on the weekend of February 17-February 18. Business travel demand is picking up after the mid-month holidays, particularly on long-haul routes,” Cathay Group chief customer and commercial officer, Lavinia Lau, said.
